Laser or IPL for skin treatments?
There are a number of skin conditions that can be treated with both lasers or IPL. Some of the more common lasers used to treat vascular conditions (such as broken capillaries or rosacea) can leave very pronounced bruising or crusting on the skin, or a ‘dotty’ appearance. For this reason, many doctors now agree that a medical IPL system can give better results without the corresponding ‘downtime’ for conditions such as rosacea, threadveins or sun damage. Intense Pulsed Light systems have been proven in numerous medical studies to provide excellent clinical results for other skin conditions, such as acne and superficial pigmentation. Lasers also have their place in treating skin issues, some leg veins for example may be too deep for an IPL to successfully treat, in this case we would treat you with our Nd:YAG Laser.
IPL or laser for Hair Removal?
Both lasers and IPL systems can give excellent results for removal of dark hair in a wide range of skin types. Certain lasers are excellent for the treatment of fairer skins, but are too aggressive for treating darker skin tones. IPL's are able to treat a very wide range of skin types effectively (except the very darkest) and in some cases may be less painful than using certain laser wavelengths (such as YAG or DIODE) due to the shorter penetration depth of the IPL light.
